Multiple calendar events

Post by Dimitry » Wed Sep 25, 2024 8:21 pm

Hi

I have an issue when trying to create 2 events of the same type, with different notes via API.

With one event there is no problem, all good.
But during 2nd call I get a reply with: An activity schedule for this employee on this date already exists. Refer to schedule 367217

Which pushes me to EDIT previous event rather the CREATE a new one.

I'm trying to use the following endpoint:
https://developer.simprogroup.com/apido ... bbc7917709

/api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/activitySchedules/

https://prnt.sc/kMZ0Q5eKCcfi

Expected result: 2 events with different notes appear in schedule.

Please advice.
Thanks

Hi,

You will be able to create only one schedule for one staff member for a day for each schedule type. you will be able to add more schedule blocks to that schedule by updating the previously created schedule.

Regards.

Hi Simpro Team,

We are experiencing a similar issue and would appreciate your guidance.

We have an activity called "Loading", which represents the time an employee spends loading materials before beginning their jobs for the day. These activities always appear first in the daily schedule and are placed in adjacent time blocks.

Our "Schedule Format" is set to 15 minutes.

The problem occurs when we need to create two consecutive Loading activities, for example, 8:00–8:15 and 8:15–8:30. When attempting this via the API, the second call is rejected with the following error:

"An activity schedule for this employee on this date already exists. Refer to schedule XXX"

We cannot work around this by shortening the first block to 8:00–8:14, as the 15-minute Schedule Format does not permit sub-interval durations.

When creating these blocks through the UI, they can be added successfully. However, they are automatically merged into a single continuous block. This is problematic for us because we store job-specific information in the Notes field of each block, and each block must remain individual and traceable to its corresponding job.

To summarise the constraints:
- API rejects duplicate same-day activities for the same employee
- UI merges adjacent activity blocks automatically
- Blocks cannot be shortened below the 15-minute schedule interval
- Each block must remain separate to preserve its associated Notes

Is there a supported way to maintain separate, adjacent activity blocks of the same type within a single day? Any workaround or roadmap insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
