Oauth2 authentication for employee with Mobility licenses only

Post by GenLocalz » Tue Jan 10, 2023 11:57 pm

Hi simPRO forum,

We have setup API config for Oauth2 "Authorisation Code".
The intention is for mobile workers to login using Single Sign On inside our mobile application. User clicks on "Log in with your simPRO account" and simPro page appears.

Everything works well when Employee has "User" license. However when employee does not have "User" license, but only "Mobility" with "Connect" and "Mobile", the SimPro login page shows: "This employee doesn't have privileges to access this page".

Please help, how can we implement simPRO SSO (oauth2) for employees which have only Mobility license

Thank you

Hi,

Mobility license only allows an employee to log in to the simPRO Mobile or Connect app on their mobile device, so I think you might need to apply a User license if you want to access to simPRO data via your own mobile application.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your reply. Want to clarify, we do NOT need "to access to simPRO data via your own mobile application".
We only need to employee or contract to authenticate and return back "authCode" when redirect back to our mobile application. To be clear, it is simPRO web page that access simPRO data, not our mobile application.

To move this forward, please let us know:
1. what is the recommended way to do simPRO single sign for employees with mobile license only?
2. if we would to give User license, does it have any financial implications (asking as we need present to our client)?
3. if we would to give User license, is it possible to do this in a way that employee can only login, but not be able to see any data? I assume our clients setup these employees with Mobile license only for security reason, so if we would to give them User license, we want to limit about of data they could see - ideally nothing

Thank you
