Effect of Enabling 2FA on simPRO API

Post by danjames » Wed Oct 27, 2021 12:12 am

Hello,

My company is interested in enabling 2FA for their simPRO users. However, I'm not sure if the log-in process will change for an application using the SimPRO API resource owner credentials/authorisation code/implicit grant type. I had a look in the documentation and couldn't find anything.

Could someone please let me know if enabling 2FA will mean the application needs additional functionality such as being able to enter a 2FA code during log-in, or any other requirements?

Thankyou in advance for the help.

Hi,

It won't effect to the API grant type when you enabling 2FA for simPRO users.

Thankyou robbertcha for the response,

To clarify further, the process for authenticating the API with any of those grant types doesn't change when we enable 2FA? Even though if we use the resource owner credentials grant type it requires the user to log in with their SimPRO account which may have 2FA setup.

The code for authenticating calls with the SimPRO API will not change even when 2FA is enabled.

Thankyou again

Correct, at the moment 2FA is not available while authorising an external application.
