Editing Material and Labor Costs on Cost Center Prebuilds

Post by ClarityConnect-REMAX » Mon May 04, 2026 11:46 am

Hello,

I have noticed that when I go the UI and edit a Prebuild for a Cost Center, you are offered the option to Edit for Job #xxxxxx or Edit Main Pre-Build. When you select Edit for Job, you are able to adjust Materials and Costs. However, this is not available if you use the
api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/jobs/{jobID}/sections/{sectionID}/costCenters/{costCenterID}/prebuilds/{prebuildID} route since they take different parameters.

If we simply create a new prebuild with the values we need based on the original pre-build, we lose the Build item it comes from.

I notice that, though the UI, there's a parameter on the Form Data on the editPrebuild.php call when editing for Job called editFor (See attached Screenshot
editPrebuild.php Form Data detailing editFor parameter

).
Essentially, I was hoping there was an endpoint I could hit that mimics this.

The API currently supports updating pricing, quantity, and billable status of a prebuild item on a cost center. It does not support the "Edit for Job" workflow that lets you modify the internal bill of materials of a prebuild scoped to a specific job. That capability exists only in the UI via editPrebuild.php with editFor=job. If this is functionality the client needs, it would require a new API feature request via the Productboard portal.
