Job currency, values and adjustments

Post by stoney123 » Tue Oct 22, 2024 11:38 am

Hi

I have queries relating to creating Jobs/Customers via the simPRO API and adjustments and currencies and fields, please.

First of all when creating a new Job, is there any way to pass a different currency through or is this based on the customers' currency from their profile?

We would sometimes like to create jobs via the API in a different currency than what is the default, for international jobs. Jobs also contain Catalog items that are in a different currency.

Our current process is:

Create Customer
Create Job
Create Job Section
Create Job Section Cost Centre
Create Job Section Cost Centre Catalog Item

Is there any way to send a different currency as part of the Job creation process or does this need to be linked to the customers' profile?

If we would like to use a default sell price or markup for our catalog items which fields should we use please?

For creating a new cost centre catalog item there are several price fields and I am not sure which should be filled in and which can be left blank or not sent through. There is:

BasePrice
Markup
Discount
SellPriceExDiscount
SellPriceIncDiscount
SellPrice (Deprecated)

Finally when creating these jobs, we sometimes get back an "Adjusted" value which I assume is down to sending through a SellPrice value which is slightly off the Catalog price for the product in simPRO. Do you have any recommendations on steps that can be taken to stop this Adjusted value from appearing on Jobs and how we can avoid this if the currency is different for the customer and the SellPrice sent through for the job needs to be in a different currency?

At the end of this, we would like to create Jobs via the API for customers in multiple different currencies and add catalog items to these jobs without there being any rounding errors or Adjusted values or the catalog item sell prices being incorrect.

Here is a screenshot showing an example job with the Adjusted value present in the totals:

Hi stoney123,

As you mention currency is part of the customer profile and not the job, so to change this you would have to update the customers profile before creating the job. This can be done both in Simpro and through the API if you have multi-currency set up in your company.

For catalogs you set your trade price on the catalog item itself. If you have different vendors you can set a discount or a 'nettprice' per individual vendor if their prices differ.

If you want to set a special price over a set amount of items use the splitprice option on the catalog item.

You then have pricing options where you can set additional pricing strategies with different discounts applied on the trade price. These pricing tiers can the be assigned to individual customers if needed.

You can read up more on this in our helpguide:
https://helpguide.simprogroup.com/Content/Welcome.htm

Test the setup in your Simpro build and see what works best for you.

Please could we have an answer on the second part of my question?

Hi,
The standard sell price for you catalog item that you set would be your TradepriceEX which is including taxes. This is the same as the TradePrice field which is deprecated.

If you don't have any discounts applied the amount set as Tradeprice would also be your Baseprice.

If you have any vendors set on your catalog item and have a discount available with that vendor the discounted price would show on the Baseprice value.

The sellprice is your baseprice with the set markup added, so if you have Baseprice 10$ and a markup of 50% sellprice would show as 15$.

The adjusted value will be updated if you edit the cost centre and set a different total than that of the materials you have added. If you have added materials with sell price of 200, but manualle set the job total to 250 the difference will be set as adjusted amount.

See details in our helpguide for the different prices:
https://helpguide.simprogroup.com/Conte ... t=adjusted

When it comes to currency you have to test this setup on your build with the currencies you have set on the catalogs. There should not be adjusted values unless the jobs are being overrided from the default prices. Please note that there is limited support in API on catalogs for currencies so do the setup in Simpro.

Please read the Simpro documentation for in depth details on item prices, the cost centers and currencies.
