Request for a Tests endpoint

Post by PhocasGN » Wed Dec 03, 2025 10:18 am

Hello,

We would like to request the addition of a Tests endpoint that supplies all test histories. Key requirements:
- Each test should have a unique TestID
- The endpoint should not require passing an asset as a parameter, but the retrieved data should still contain the AssetID as a foreign key.
- All columns & data returned in the existing test histories endpoint

The current test histories endpoint forces us to iterate over ~90,000 assets, which is not sustainable and often results in timeouts. In addition, it appears to miss certain test histories without clear explanation.

A consolidated Tests endpoint would function similarly to the existing endpoint that supplies all Job Logs, providing a more reliable and scalable solution.

Thank you for considering this request.

HI there,

We do have the following endpoints here that make use of assetTypeID as a parameter instead of assetID: https://developer.simprogroup.com/apido ... 5b1601c904

This should help you avoid having to iterate over each asset itself. This endpoint does not contain the assetID within the response, and I've raised this with our product team, so we will look into seeing what we can do to help you with your use case.

Hello,

Thank you for the response, we did attempt this early in our development but unfortunately it was missing lots of results so not a feasible approach.
Do you have any other suggestions? Is Custom Endpoint Development an option?

Many thanks,
George

Hi George,

All assets should have an assetTypeID and all test readings will belong to an asset and be associated to an asset type through it, if this is not the case then this would suggest a bug. You should be able to fetch all test readings by iterating your list of asset types.

It is not possible to create a test reading that does not have an assetID or assetTypeID, so it is concerning that you state results are missing when using the assetTypeID as a parameter.

I would advise to revisit the suggested documentation, and confirm that results are missing, ensuring to apply the pagination rules to ensure that you are fetching all the results. If this is not the case and there are test readings missing please raise this as a support ticket here: https://helpdesk.simprogroup.com/#create-a-case

Hi,

We have looked at the assetTypes/{assetTypeID}/testReadings/ endpoint already and this does not give us what we are after. We are looking to retrieve all test records (i.e. including a date of when the test occurred) in bulk without having to iterate over the assets, so that we can make one request daily for all new tests that day and increment these on to a full table, instead of reloading the full test history per asset each night (roughly 90,000 requests, assuming they fit on to one page!).

The test readings per asset type endpoint gives us all of the test options available to an asset, not the test records themselves. Does that all make sense?

Thanks, Adam

Hi there,

Thank you for the clarification and I apologise for my misunderstanding, what you are asking seems to be outside of our current API functionality and your request is one that I think should warrant a discussion with our product team. I have flagged this with them, if you are a part of our partners program I'd advise you to reach out for a meeting with a liaison to enable us to move forward with your request.

If you haven't signed up yet, you can send an email to our partners team ([email protected]) and they should get back to you reasonably fast, as I've notified them of your issue. You can also find more information about our partners program here: https://www.simprogroup.com/partners#become-a-partner

Hi George,

I’m Gareth from the Product team. Given this is new functionality, we’ve created a request ticket and will complete a deeper assessment of the ask and scope in our next review session.

As this is a net-new capability, let’s move the conversation to email so we can follow up with any additional questions or run potential solution options by you. We’ll also keep you updated on timelines if we determine a viable path forward.

You can reach me at [email protected]

Thanks,
Gareth.
