Hey friends,

1. Is it possible to connect Quotes with Jobs via the API?
2. Is there an API available, perhaps not documented, to create Timeline events.

We are in the process of migrated a lot of data into a new simPRO setup.

One of the quirks from our perspective is that a Quote can't be associated with a Job or vice versa via the API. When workflowing a Quote via the UI this shows up in the 'Timeline'. Reviewing the docs it doesn't appear possible to POST or PATCH, you can only GET Timeline.

Is this the case? Has anyone else done a large import of data via the simPRO api from one platform to simPRO and come across this issue? How did you get around it? Cheers!

Hi Mike_Roberts,
You can convert a quote to a job in the API. They will then be linked with the field "ConvertedFrom" in the job endpoint.
If you can't convert the quotes to jobs in simPRO you might be able to use a custom field to store information you need but they won't be physically linked in simPRO.

Regarding Timelines it's not possible to create new entries manually as it's a collection of important system events shown for that job/quote. You can create notes on a job or quote which will also be displayed in the timeline endpoint.

Sindre, that's great feedback, thank you. I'll take back a customfield as a possibility and let the team know we are unable to associate a quote with a job via the API, unless you use the convert endpoint.
