Forum rules

Search Job Linked Variations

Hi,

Is it possible to search for a job that created / triggered the linked variation?

I have a webhook that listens to new jobs.

What I would like to do is when IsVariation=true, find the job that created the variation.

e.g. GET /api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/jobs/?LinkedVariations.ID=xxxx

Since LinkedVariations does not allow search requests, is there another way around this?

I've managed a workaround via

GET /api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/jobs/?orderby=-DateModified&columns=ID,Name,LinkedVariations

Hi,

Has anyone got ideas on to make this search more efficient? As the LinkedVariations column still doesn't allow for search requests, I essentially have to go through all our jobs (which takes a while) to build a mapping between the jobs which have a isVariation value of true and finding the corresponding entry in LinkedVariations. This seems horribly inefficient...

Hi,

Thanks for flagging this — you're right that LinkedVariations currently doesn't support filtering, so the only option today is to pull job records and build the mapping yourself, as outlined earlier in this thread. There isn't a more efficient built-in way to do this right now.

Being able to filter jobs by LinkedVariations.ID (or otherwise query the variation relationship directly) sounds like a reasonable improvement to the API. I'd recommend submitting this as a feature request through our product portal so it can be properly tracked and voted on by other users:
