Timeouts from multiple endpoints

Post by zest_eco » Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:20 am

Hi,

We're trying to hit the following endpoints:
  • "/api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/sites/{siteID}/assets/{assetID}/testHistory/"
    "/api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/sites/{siteID}/assets/{assetID}/serviceLevels/"
and receiving timeouts.

The error is intermittent unfortunately and only returns a generic error message.

The data we're trying to retrieve is tiny, less than 2 bytes in some cases.

I can private message specific URLs if that helps.

Can you advise what steps we can take to resolve this issue?

Regards,
Matt

Hi Matt,
It's hard to troubleshoot timeouts but we'll have a look.

Can you send me a private message with your build details and some more info.

Are you dong a GET or POST, if you are posting can you include the POST body.

How often is this happening and what is the error message you get?

Regards

Hi Sindre,

I'm responding on behalf of my dev colleagues.

We are receiving the following error on the endpoint "/api/v1.0/companies/{companyID}/sites/{siteID}/assets/{assetID}/testHistory/" as found here in the docs: https://developer.simprogroup.com/apido ... -Histories
reason: connect ETIMEDOUT
type: 'system',
errno: 'ETIMEDOUT',
code: 'ETIMEDOUT

The code to call this endpoint, is the same as is used to call all other endpoints, with no issues. We have previously had intermittent time out errors, which we have handled with retry logic.
However, on this particular endpoint if we try to retry, it just runs forever and never fetches the data and ultimately returns this error again.

This is preventing us from progressing this story and other work required downstream.

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Pete,
Can you send me a private message with the build name and the data you use when trying to get test history.
Info such as sites and assets ID's. I can then test and see if we can reproduce it or see if there is something about the setup.

Hi Sindre,

You might be surprised to hear from me again on this one. We put this User Story back in to the backlog whilst other work took priority, but it’s now becoming a focus again. I have flagged this again to a colleague to begin to look at it and the first question back is this:

'Ask him to confirm if he means the response we are getting from simpro, or by "data you use" does he mean our code?'

Can you clarify, pls?

Thanks,
Pete

Hi Prem,

Sent you a pm yesterday afternoon. I also have some excel spreadsheet data that I'd like to pass across, but I can't see how to attach any docs. Can you clarify how I can attach docs, pls?

Thanks,
Pete
