[Released]Invoice URL

Hi,

We are doing an integration between SimPro - MYOB Advanced and our client would like to have a hyperlink in MYOB they can click to take them back to the SimPro Invoice. To achieve this we need to reconstruct the Invoice URL, unfortunately, the InvoiceID in the URL (https://#####.simprosuite.com/staff/editInvoice.php?invoiceID=1120626) doesn't match the Invoice Number (#119234), what field in the Invoice API is the Invoice ID used in the URL?

Thank you for your request. The ID you refer to is not available through the API.

We understand your intentions and what you are trying to achieve so we will put this request forward to our architects for evaluation.

I can not give you a time frame for a response right now or if we have possible solutions as there are many implications with direct linking such as user access and security .

For an intermediate solution you could provide a URL to the invoice page where the user would use the ID you have to search for the right invoice.

The URL was working previously with the friendly invoice number. Something has changed recently. Is there a way to find the internal ID from the "friendly" invoice number?

Hi Simon,
We have not done any updates to the API in regards to invoices or invoice numbering lately.

If this is for Simpro I am not aware of any changes. But it does seem as you can search for invoice number in the global search in Simpro. It will show you the right invoice, and when being displayed the URL shows the invoice ID. This is how it's been for a while as I am aware.

No, I am talking about the URL InvoiceID query parameter as mentioned by Jordan. This is not the API or UI. The InvoiceID query parameter was the "friendly" invoice ID, not an internal ID.

Hi.
I believe the changes in Simpro using invoice ID instead of invoice number in the URL was done in the beginning of this year.

The invoice ID is not available in the API and you should search using the invoice number.

If you are in Simpro you can use the invoice or global search to find the invoice searching by invoice number. The invoice ID will then be shown in the URL but there are not other way to "convert" or find the invoice ID and invoice number.

Hi,
We have reviewed some use cases for the invoice ID and have decided to add the internal ID to the invoice endpoint in the API.

That means that if you have the current invoice number, you can look up the invoice in the API and it will return all invoice information including the internal ID used in the Simpro invoice url.

This will be updated in one of our upcoming releases.
