Business Intelligence

Post by colinspooner » Tue Mar 02, 2021 3:00 am

Hi

I would like to connect a Business Intelligence product (Sage Intelligence Reporting) to simPRO for read-only data access via the API.

My intent was to utilise the REST ODBC driver provided by C-Data which has OAUTH capabilities.

What steps will I need to take to be granted access?

Thanks in advance.

I'll go through the steps where I created my company's API:

1) Register an access key through Simpro's website. You need this to authenticate with SIMPRO
2) use your local company's proxy username and password (your company might block access through their local proxy) - contact your local IT admin
3) Do a simple API call like below: YourCompanyWebsiteToSimpro.com/api/v1.0/companies/'+ str(CompanyID) + '/jobs/'
If your company is setup like mine, you'll need to access the individual company IDs to access the end points for jobs.

4) Transform the API call data using a JSON parser. I used Python but you can use Javascript or any other programming language really.

When you say you're using a business intelligence product, I'm not sure SIMPRO is setup to accept a bolt on solution. You might need an API developer to complete this. That's the steps I did above.

If you're not technical or know anyone in your company who is - you can reach out to SIMPRO's partners, I contacted Syncezy when I was trying to figure this stuff out. But ended up cracking the coding myself and didn't need them.
